The latest ICC Test rankings showcase significant movement following a week of compelling performances in both Test and T20I cricket. India's Rishabh Pant and England's Ben Duckett are the major headliners, achieving career-best rankings after their remarkable displays in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings, fueled by his extraordinary twin centuries at Headingley. He etched his name in history by becoming only the second wicketkeeper, after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower, to achieve the feat of scoring hundreds in both innings of a Test match. Pant also became the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to reach 800 rating points in Test history, a testament to his aggressive and effective batting style.
Joe Root maintains his position as the world’s No. 1 Test batter, followed by his fellow countryman Harry Brook. India’s Shubman Gill also made a notable leap, climbing five places to 20th after his elegant century in the first innings.
India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead the ICC Test bowling rankings, reinforcing his status as the top bowler with yet another five-wicket haul at Headingley. His consistent performance with the red ball has solidified his dominance in the format. England’s Ben Stokes, showcasing his all-round abilities, has climbed three places to secure the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings—his highest ranking in recent months.
In the T20I rankings, the tri-series in Glasgow between the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland triggered notable changes. Dutch batter Michael Levitt jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen also impressed, rising 20 spots to joint 38th.
The ICC rankings remain the benchmark for measuring individual excellence, where every run and wicket contributes to shaping the ever-evolving hierarchy of cricket.
