Elon Musk's X platform, previously known as Twitter, has taken action against a significant number of accounts in India, suspending over 500,000 for policy violations.

According to a Reuters report, the accounts were banned between January 26 and February 25 for breaches of the platform's policies.
The report indicates that X banned 506,173 accounts for offenses related to child sexual exploitation and the dissemination of non-consensual nudity. Furthermore, 1,982 accounts were suspended for promoting terrorism.
In total, X banned 508,155 accounts in India during this period. The platform also processed approximately 14,421 complaints from Indian users through its established grievance mechanisms, alongside 41 requests concerning account suspensions.
X stated, "We overturned 1 of these account suspensions after reviewing the specifics of the situation. The remaining reported accounts remain suspended." The company also noted receiving 71 requests related to general account inquiries during the reporting period.
This recent action follows a similar wave of account suspensions. Between December 26 and January 25, X banned approximately 231,215 accounts in India. During the same timeframe, 1,945 accounts were removed for promoting terrorism.
