Following his 10-wicket haul in the series-leveling victory at Edgbaston, Akash Deep has truly made his mark on the international stage. His performance on a pitch largely unfavorable to bowlers has garnered widespread acclaim. Akash Deep's figures of 6 for 99 in the second innings contributed to a match total of 10 for 187.
A video circulating on social media captures an English fan singing a tribute to the 28-year-old outside Edgbaston, showcasing the impact of his performance.
The fan's song, "Akash Deep, Akash Deep Bowling England Out, Akash Deep!" reverberated outside the stadium following Day 5.
Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary cricketer, lauded Akash Deep as the "standout bowler" of the match. He described Deep's delivery that dismissed Joe Root in the second innings as the "ball of the series."
Tendulkar expressed his admiration on social media platform X, stating, "India’s approach was to take England out of this game and force them to play differently, making sure that there would only be 1 winner. What impressed me most about the bowlers was the length they bowled."
He further added, "Needless to say, Akash Deep was the standout bowler, and in my opinion, he bowled the ball of the series to Joe Root."
Tendulkar also humorously acknowledged Siraj’s diving catch at short mid-wicket, commenting, "Enjoyed the catch taken by Mohammad ‘Jonty’ Siraj."
