Actor Vijay has taken a significant step in his political career, being officially announced as the Chief Ministerial candidate for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This decision was made official through a special resolution during the party's State Executive Committee meeting at the TVK headquarters in Chennai.
Reports indicate that Vijay presided over the meeting, where plans were initiated for a large-scale state conference scheduled for next month.
Simultaneously, Vijay is preparing for the release of his highly anticipated film, 'Jana Nayagan,' directed by H. Vinoth. The recently released teaser for 'Jana Nayagan' has garnered positive feedback from viewers.
Priyamani, a prominent actress in 'Jana Nayagan,' has voiced her admiration for Vijay. She expressed her excitement about sharing screen space with him and conveyed her hope that this would not be his final film.
During a recent appearance at the Kerala Carnival in Ireland, Mamitha Baiju, another key actress in 'Jana Nayagan,' shared insights from a conversation with Vijay regarding his future in film. According to Baiju, when asked if 'Jana Nayagan' would be his last film, Vijay responded that it depends on the outcome of the elections, leaving his options open.
'Jana Nayagan' boasts a star-studded cast including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Mamitha Baiju. In contrast, Vijay's previous film, 'GOAT,' an action-oriented project, did not resonate with audiences as expected.
